Writing, Messaging & Media Relations

Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) launched an all-new, reimagined district and school website system in summer 2025 to better serve students, families, and staff. The updated scusd.edu was redesigned for improved accessibility, streamlined navigation, and enhanced functionality across all devices.
The communications campaign introduced the new platform through a coordinated rollout that included a launch video, staff and family messages, and integrated translation and accessibility features. The campaign’s goal was to drive awareness, ease the transition to the new sites, and highlight improvements that make it easier for users to find what they need.

CALSPRA Award of Merit Winner

At Sacramento City Unified, our Attendance and Engagement staff needed a way to celebrate the progress our school site administrators had made to encourage students to attend school, each and every day. SCUSD Communications Department staff developed a campaign to recognize the work of our students and staff to increase our attendance rate. This campaign, In It To Win It, featured a championship belt to be presented to the school with the greatest improvement in attendance.

CALSPRA Award of Excellence Winner

Sac City Unified broke ground on three school rebuild projects as part of our Measure H maintenance, upgrade and rebuild work that is ongoing to modernize our district facilities. The groundbreaking ceremonies, hosted at Oak Ridge Elementary in September 2023, Edward Kemble and Cesar Chavez in June 2023, and Nicholas Elementary in June 2023, marked the culmination of years of strategic planning and community collaboration, beginning with the passage of Measure H by Sacramento votes in March 2020.
